Flow-Based Market Coupling, accuracy and platform

Flow-Based Market Coupling After numerous challenges with numerical mathematics, indexing, searching, caching, memory and testing, we are proud to announce that we can now simulate the Flow-Based Market Coupling (FBMC). Our backtesting includes the historical FBMC domain for the Central Western European (CWE) market region comprising Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Accuracy The simulated 2018 FBMC domain is formed by 458,000 exchange restrictions from the Joint Allocation Office (JAO). The FBMC model Read more…

Cloud, simulation and current development

Cloud The cloud architecture was extended with automated features. Web-based communication with simulation core for simulation state updates. New server installation and subsequent integration in our Kubernetes high performance computing cluster. Backups and redundancy of our distributed storage server cluster as well as gapless data traffic encryption. Thus, the user experiences short feedback loops, we can quickly provide more computing resources on demand, and outages do not cause data losses. Simulation The simulation core includes Read more…

EXIST, proof of concept and development

EXIST We moved into the incubator of TU Berlin at Hardenbergstraße 38 in 10623 Berlin and are receiving the EXIST Business Start-up Grant from 1st of August 2019 for one year. Proof of concept On 19st of July 2019 we achieved the first browser-based market simulation (upload, simulation and download). Thus, the proof of concept has been achieved and the market simulation is now available for pilot customers. Development In the last few weeks, the Read more…

Approval, backtesting, interface and simulation

EXIST approval We received a positive evaluation for our business proposal and so we will move to the incubator of TU Berlin in August 2019. Backtesting The backtesting 2018 was further parameterized in following sub-models for the region of the ENTSO-E members. Public available sources and first parametrization tools has been used. 1223 thermal power plants as well as 273 turbines, 86 pumps and 444 basins of hydro power plants 5 feed-in time series (biomass, Read more…

Photo, simulation and feedback

Team photo Our IT expert Fabian Pfannes has started to work on graphical user interfaces and databases of our online portal. The picture shows the initial team in front of our office. First simulation An internal version of the simulation kernel was achieved including models and procedures for markets (spot, reserve, import, export), demand (price related, price unrelated) and power plants (hydro, thermal, renewables). Based on this, we successfully simulated a simplified scenario with 8760 Read more…

Team, office and scholarship

Following the current state of Maon. Team The team is now complete. We have all necessary skills for the realization of the founding idea. Mr. Dariush Wahdany develops during his bachelor thesis a part of the simulation kernel. Further, Mr. Nicolai Schmid has started the development of the cloud. Office We are working on the prototype of our service. For the transition time before the scholarship “EXIST-Gruenderstipendium” we moved into our first office at Berlin Read more…

Customer service and prototype deadline

Thank you very much for your interest in the startup project Maon. We assembled a qualified team that is able to realize the development of a cloud-based and easy-to-use market simulation. In doing so, we have completed an application for a startup scholarship called “EXIST-Gruenderstipendium”. The last piece of the puzzle before submitting is one further team member taking care of the customer service. This includes the creation of manuals, video courses and a help Read more…
